Summer Fun...Having a Blast!

Summer is off to a great start.  We are making the most of our time together.  We have already painted two rooms in our house, planted a small garden and tons of flower seeds, and have spent lots of time at the beach.  Bryce loves the kayaks and always exclaims, "Boat!" every time we load up to go to the beach.  We are so happy to be filling our days with sun, sand and lots of family time. We've managed to spend a day with grandma in Richmond, a few mornings at the library and Jim has even caught some crabs, too.  The fact that we have already spent a morning on our favorite beach (my favorite beach in the world!) tells us that our children are really growing up.  Not that we needed any more evidence of that:)  Being in Mathews is such a welcome change after another year in Jakarta.

At the moment we are in the Outer Banks in North Carolina.  Amelia and Bryce are over the moon to be around their cousins, aunts and uncles.  We are staying in a rented beach house with Jim's brother and family.  It has been so fantastic to be in such great company.  Below are a few photos to give you an idea of just how much fun they are having...

And Away We Go...

The last day of school is here, which means we will be boarding a plane very soon.  In fact, we will be at the airport by this time tomorrow!  I guess me waking up this morning at 2am was a practice run - at least that is what we will call it!  I also thought "pre-lag" was fitting.  We are all so very excited to have a peaceful family summer at our beautiful place in Virginia.  We can't wait to have some kayaking and beach time with the kids.  I can already see the blue sky view from my favorite beach in the world, complete with the herons gliding by!  We are also looking forward to lots of visits with family and friends, after dinner bike rides, lots of great food and the public library.  This may well be my last blog post for a while because we like to go off the grid.  I will try to do at least one post, but I am not making any promises.

When you see us, it will be helpful to know that...
Bryce's vocabulary is exploding!  "Rain! Wet! Puddle!"
Be patient, it might take him a little to warm up to you.

Amelia shares Jim's love for sushi.  She is getting pretty good with her chop sticks, too.

Bryce can handle his own, too...Noodles - no problem!

Despite how it might appear, Disney princesses have not actually taken over our castle.

Bryce loves balls and diving into things.
Warning - the pillows from your couch may be tossed to the floor during our visit!

Can't wait to see you this summer!

Sometimes I just can't get a clear shot!

Apologies for the poor quality of these photos, but my shutter speed is often just not fast enough to keep up with two!

Look at what we found!  Let's try them on...

Kaboom!

 I'll get you now!

She's down!

No children were harmed in the making of this blog post - in fact, no tears shed.
Just lots of laughter and love! XO
